On March 9, it will be dark at 08:58 (West Indonesian time), when the moon is in front of the sun. Scientists resulted: Indonesia is the best place where you can experience this rare phenomenon. Many hotels in South Sumatra, South Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi and in the northern Moluccas are already fully booked. The ferry operator Pelni brings 5.000 visitors with two of their ships to Ternate / Moluccas.
It is sure that East Halmahera (Maluku), remains the longest obscured of the sun with 3 minutes and 19 seconds. That is a real reason to fly together with the team of Mountain View Resort from Manado to experience the wonders of nature on a coral island, fringed by white sand beaches. Overnight accommodation is in a tent camp on the island.
Early bookings are required because there are only propeller planes, which have a limited number of seats to Halmahera.
Early bird booking pays off also in addition, because we give 10% discount (subject to availability) on accomodations and dive packages for holiday extensions in North Sulawesi in the month of March 2016, whether at Mountain View Resort & Spa, Mapia Dive Resort or Siladen Dive Resort!
Only for direct bookings through Mountain View Resort!

On the 05 of March 2015, the Resort manager reached the brim of the almost 100 meters high waterfall Salusem (Salu = river, sem = sour) with two guests and a Jungle guide, which has its headwaters at Mahawu volcano and is hidden in the green of the rainforest. Never visited by tourists or strangers before. The Trek is adventurous and the view down in the depth is breathtaking.
EARTH DAY on April 22, 2015 – Join the team of Mountain View Resort & SPA and be a part of the biggest grass-root effort in history by planting a tree as a “give back” to our earth. This is an old Native American tradition. You take something from the Earth you have to give something back. It will be a real global "give back to Earth" event. The goal: planting one billion trees round the world on this Wednesday.
We are proud to offer our new active program: kayaking on jungle rivers. The last few days we tested our professional kayaks with a team of experienced paddlers from Canada and the Netherlands. All river rides where successful! We had a lot of fun, much adrenalin and great local staff who assisted us during our explorations trips. Now, you can book it directly at our resort.
In a place known better for its cigars, Taru Martani manufactory is the country’s oldest and largest cigar maker. It was initially built under the name of N.V. Negresco in 1918.
Three years later this cigar factory moved to Jogjakarta. After World War II was taken over by the late Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX and renamed Taru Martani, Javanese for the leaves of life.
Enjoy a handmade cigar at Mountain View Resort & SPA.
Shisha pipes use tobacco sweetened with fruit or molasses sugar, which makes the smoke more aromatic than cigarette smoke. Popular flavorings include apple, plum, coconut, mango, mint, strawberry and cola. Wood, coal, or charcoal is burned in the shisha pipe to heat the tobacco and create the smoke because the fruit syrup or sugar makes the tobacco damp.
Smoke a shisa pipe at Mountain View Resort & SPA after a great dinner.
We welcomed our first Japanese group in July with the focus observing birds in our beautiful countryside. The "early birds" among them could hear the cries of the Matinan blue Flycatcher (Cyornis sanfordi) and a few participants could observe the extremely shy Scaly-breasted Kingfisher (Actenoides princeps) in the forests close to our resort. Many thanks to the Guide Nurlin Duni Sorevaya from Palu.
